Other applications for hydroxyapatite currently under development include • A home-care anticaries system targeting oral mutans streptococci reduction (3DS), in conjunction with the Japanese National Institute of Infectious Diseases • A powder jet deposition system (PDJ) for treating tooth decay with fine-particle hydroxyapatite, in conjunction with Tohoku University, under a grant from the Japan Science and Technology Agency(JST). • Drug delivery agents for anticancer therapy (DDS), initially in conjuction with Chiba University and the Japanese International Medical Center • Catalysts for converting plant-derived ethanol into gasoline and other industrial chemicals, avoiding recourse to fossil fuels ('Green Ethanol Chemistry (GEC)'), earlier supported by a grant from the Japan New Energy Development Organization (NEDO).
